Horton-Hardgrave Hall Opening

Opening our doors for business

Print & Branding

The Harbert College of Business experienced a milestone in 2019 by opening a second new business school building. Here’s what then-Dean Annette Ranft said about the building:

“Horton-Hardgrave Hall, our new 100,000 square foot business building, alongside Lowder Hall, reflects our commitment to create a world-class business school complex that will stand among the nation’s best.”

The planning commitee of the ribbon cutting events asked us to design key pieces for the Sept 13 opening day events.

When beginning to design these pieces, we wanted to differentiate the Harbert College of Business from the other schools on campus that were also opening new buildings around the same time.

For the day events, we wanted to use the Auburn orange and navy blue, but we also wanted to introduce a lighter blue to indicate the forward progress the college was making that day.

The evening gala event needed to feel elevated and refined.

For these pieces we used the Auburn navy but used gold digital foil as our primary design direction.

Special printing techniques used:

The save the date card used uncoated specialty paper with 4 color digital printing.

The formal invitation used the same uncoated specialty paper with 4 color digital printing, digital gold foil, and a vellum sleeve printed with gold digital foil and highcon laser dietcut.

The donor booklet was printed on the same uncoated and vellum papers and used 4 color digital printing, gold digital foil and highcon laser diecut.

The wine bottle print pieces were printed 4 color digital printing on a flat sheet, followed by raised digital gold foil printed on a scodix press. The wine box has 4 color digital printing, digital gold foil and a laser diecut for the bottle shape.
